The share of people who used rail transport at least once a year out of the total population over the age of 14 in 2022, a year affected by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, was 30.0%, slightly higher than in 2005 (29.3%).

The share of public transport users out of the total number of people travelling in Italy by means of public transport for work or study reasons in 2022, a year affected by the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, is 16.6%, compared to 19.7% registered in 2000.
In the 8 regions of Southern Italy it is equal to 14.6% in 2022.

Since 2007 up to today, the value of projects monitored and supported by cohesion policies in Transport and Mobility has exceeded 86 billion euros, out of which over 47 billion concern projects financed in the 2014-2020 programming period.
